Vintage Radio, Tuesday Evenings from 18:00-20:00
Hello folks, welcome to my Vintage Radio page.
If I may, I would like to give you a potted history of my involvement in radio broadcasting, especially with Country Music.
My first experience of broadcasting started when I was and ex-pat working in Amman, the capital of Jordan, out in the Middle East. Although I was based there, I was constantly flying to most of the countries throughout the region as a Sales and Marketing manager and engineer, supplying the merchant trade within the building and construction industry.
However, as part of my social activities, I was in an amateur dramatic society performing shows for the other ex-pat nationalities there.
One evening after the play had finished, the director of Radio Jordan approached me and asked if I would like to become a presenter on the English language channel, which was broadcasting generally to most of the countries of the Middle East.
I jumped at the chance, after being told they needed a presenter for their Country Music programme. I have been a fan of Country Music since my late teens, and had become extremely knowledgeable of the genre. I was duly trained up in the fundamentals of broadcasting from the BBC manuals which were placed within the station after the BBC installed all the equipment brand new.
I continued to broadcast Country Music twice a week to the expatriate community consisting of British, American, German, French, Filipino, Indian, Sri Lankan, and of course the local Arab population for nearly five years, and if I may say, had a huge following which not only stunned myself, but all those working at Radio Jordan.
In the near future, I will be bringing you all the Country Music artists Birthdays, and other snippets of information for your enjoyment.
Please join me on Tuesday Evenings between 6 & 8 pm for “The very best in Country & West”
