My love for music and all thinks broadcasting started in 1997 when I started secondary school in Leeds. The school had its own FM station called PGFM and in-house TV show called ‘Friday World’, both of which I would be involved with until 2005.
I was involved in broadcasting, editing and producing shows from Breakfast to 10pm daily, all of which linked into my Media and Communication Studies.
It was a privilege to be involved with Galaxy 105 (now dissolved) in a Radio Drama to Stamp out Racism in Sport, a contribution which I received an award.
Over the years at PGFM and Friday World we have interviewed local and national stars of Stage and screen.
In 2013 I became involved with Radio Poplar an internet based station in Leeds, West Yorkshire. It was here after so many years away from the world of radio that I fell in love with broadcasting all over again. My show ‘The Monday Mix’, gave me the chance to broadcast music close to me, take requests and get the local community involved, at the same time increasing the stations listening audience. Sadly, in 2015 due to member numbers and funding the station ceased broadcasting after 28 years. The Monday Mix was the final show to go out from Poplar HQ.
Fast forward to 2018 and as a family we relocated to The Wirral. I was fortunate to be put in contact with Roger and the rest is history. The Mix Show was born and it’s going from strength to strength.
You can listen to The Mix every Wednesday evening between 6-8pm and repeats every Saturday between 8-10am.
I always like to hear from the listeners so please get in touch via email or on The Vintage Radio/The Mix Facebook Page, while you are there don’t forget to give them both a like and share!
Thanks for your ears….
